NEW YORK, October 20, 2011 – “The Kiner Hour – Let’s Talk Dance With Ashani Mfuko,” the number one NYC Internet radio show radio specializing in all things dance, will celebrate its one-year anniversary on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the Triad Theater, 8:30 p.m. Host Ashani Mfuko started the syndicated radio show to showcase dance artists and industry experts. Within a year’s time, the show has gained significant exposure increasing the number of listeners by hundreds. The show’s 46 episodes examine hot topics and dance trends.

The one-year anniversary party will feature performances by several NYC based artists including, Jersey Tap Fest Founder, Hillary Marie Michael, ballerina Taylor Gordon, modern dancer Laurie M. Taylor, the Ladies of Hip-Hop Crew, stand-up comedian Nethia Heyward of Private Comics Entertainment, and choreographer Roberta Mathes’ work performed by students from Beyond Dance.

“As the host of a radio show dedicated to celebrating dance artists in New York City and all over the world, I felt it was vital to highlight a selection of extraordinary artists, and bring the industry together for a night of celebration,” says Ashani Mfuko. “I also wanted to provide fans a unique opportunity to celebrate the dance industry and come together for a cause in fighting breast cancer.”

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the event will honor house dance master Marjory Smarth, a breast cancer survivor. Additionally partial proceeds from the evening will be donated to a special fan of the radio show that is currently battling breast cancer. According to BreastCancer.org one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer over the course of their lifetime. .

“Marjory is a warrior, a fighter, and at the same time, a kind and genuine spirit. Having her on the show, was an inspiration to the listeners and myself,” says Ashani Mfuko. “I have a family member who is currently struggling with breast cancer and its important to me to honor survivors like Marjory…the fight to survive takes on a new meaning when the struggle hits home.”
